My friend Todd and I were going to have a “drink and draw” session at GenCon 2012, but we drank and gamed too much to do so. Todd suggested that we could try an art challenge instead to help make up for it (also known as “an elaborate reason to draw more”). He texted our friend Drew for the first subject, and Drew picked “tarot card reader, female, 60s.”

I had a few vague ideas kicking around in my head, but didn’t actually put pencil to paper till last week Thursday - the night I was packing for the Warrior Dash. Still, I cranked this out after discarding my original thumbnails and started inking it in Paint Tool SAI. I even threw some colors down, but those are way too rough for me to post yet.

I used some ref for the pose, and my friend Bryant suggested the Horseshoe Tarot Spread in the middle of my “inks” (hence the crap card placement).

Hopefully Todd will put his piece on his dA account; if/when he does, I’ll make sure to link to it :D

Another study in Paint Tool SAI. I think I have a better handle on the program this time around. About 50 minutes of Deus Ex: Human Revolution background music, and not much talking from me.

Not featured: the Dark ‘n Stormies I was drinking while doing this.

Paint Tool SAI’s brushes confuse me, as shown by the first 25+ minutes of my latest Livestream. Then I switch back to the Pen tool and draw two ladies from ref, and a weird tree thing vaguely inspired by Guild Wars 2. Oh, and Todd and I discuss Pathfinder stuff!
